Description

CUMBRE is a residential project facing the Montevideo promenade designed by ELEMENTAL, the Chilean studio led by Alejandro Aravena, winner of the Pritzker Prize in 2016. With only eleven residences distributed over 13 floors, the building proposes a low-density experience, large surfaces and a privileged relationship with the sea.

The scale of the project allows many floors to be occupied by a single residence or a very small number of units. This increases privacy, improves orientations and allows for the development of spacious interiors, with a constant connection to views and natural light.

CUMBRE offers two-bedroom apartments, desk options and duplex residences. The published configurations include units close to 160 total square meters and duplexes that exceed 290 square meters. The interiors incorporate large living rooms, integrated kitchens and dining rooms, work spaces, two bedrooms, several bathrooms and terraces in certain types.

The architecture combines monumentality and precision. The structure, the terraces and the large openings are organized to frame the landscape and build a feeling of refuge facing the sea. Each home was conceived as a flexible home, capable of adapting to different family routines and transformations.

The common spaces include a heated indoor pool, gym, sauna, changing rooms, terrace and barbecue. The project was also conceived under criteria of efficiency and sustainability, with the objective of achieving LEED certification.

More than taking advantage of a good view, CUMBRE transforms the horizon into part of its architecture. The proximity of water, the spaciousness of the residences and the low number of units produce an experience close to that of an individual house, but accompanied by the services, security and infrastructure of a contemporary building.

CUMBRE represents the meeting between the experimental capacity of ELEMENTAL and the coastal landscape of Montevideo. It is a project that is committed to permanence, spatial quality and a form of luxury based on privacy, silence, light and the daily connection with the sea.
